Social experience has suggested that men are capable of voluntarily baking and decorating cupcakes without the help of women. Furthermore, they have enjoyed it.
For example, the Butch Bakery in New York makes cupcakes that are for men, by men.
The ‘MAN-ifesto’ on their website reads:
“Our objective is simple. We’re men. Men who like cupcakes. Not the frilly pink-frosted sprinkles-and-unicorns kind of cupcakes. We make manly cupcakes. For manly men.”
Clearly, the market is open for both genders. Adult women do not dominate the cupcake scene as a part of their genetic make-up. In fact, some women do not enjoy cupcakes very much, e.g. this writer.
One could possibly link this projected female love for baking, decorating and eating cupcakes with certain baking toys for young girls.
(Besides that ‘history of gender roles’ thing.)
There should be a toy called the “Strictly for Boys Bakery,” with masculine colors and a rugged exterior to connect it with survival and the search for food. Testosterone doesn’t necessarily mean that boys can’t bake; it simply means that the oven needs to look different.
This post hereby encourages all males to take courage and bake their own desserts until toy companies reconsider this prejudice.
If girls can have a liberation movement, so can boys.
