Back in summer 2000, the magazine New Scientist published an article about how tea bags can cure ‘sick building syndrome’, i.e. the sore throat and nausea that fresh paint and glue can cause.

Tea and tea bags absorb the chemical formaldehyde, the basis of this sickness.

In other words, tea bags clean the air—kind of like plants without the dirt and water.
